May Newsletter
Just put together the May Newsletter for Simply-Communicate and it's been a blast - full of fun stuff and interesting insights. Gerry Murray tackled me at EuroComm last year when I claimed that kiosks in factories don't work. I subscribed to the view that most employees think they are there as cash machine ATMs. But to enlighten me Gerry went all the way to Spain and has done a great video report with his client Arcelor Mittal. Well worth watching the video.
I had Mark Ragan and Jim Ylisela from Ragan Communications over in the UK a couple of weeks back and they were going on about the lastest craze to hit the States: Twittering. Apparently it allows you to keep up to date with all your friends on the move by telling them every detail about your life. Anyway, we put Kelly Kass on to road-testing it and you can read her report here. By the way, if you want to see Jim reviewing their recent conference on Social Media in Las Vegas it's posted here in one of Kelly's promotional videos.
I was also delighted to hear from an old friend from MCA days - Victoria Brown. She was a Bright Young Thing in the agency before we sold it to WPP and she switched sides and oceans to go and work for Stromberg Consulting in New York. Well now she's
back to set up an office of the Omnicom firm in London. I suppose I better call her a Wiser Young Thing now. Anyhow, she has written an article about her perceived differences between working in NY and London.Highlight of the week was interviewing Euan Semple, ex-BBC. Euan is a fascinating guy who knows everyone in the Social Media world on both sides of the Atlantic. I profiled him on the site and tomorrow we are doing a webinar to give a taster of his presentation at the forthcoming conference we are holding in June on Engagement and Social Media.
