Party time

Sometimes things just come together right and last Thursday evening was one of those occasions.  We had just finished the first day of our conference on Social Media and a bunch of people from the networking site www.myragan.com came over to meet us at the venue to have drink and find out more about IABC.
The weather was kind to us and we were able to hold the party on the deck La Dame de Serk that sits in dry dock in the London Hilton Docklands.
So there we had the confluence of a virtual networking site, our own conference and a trade association all at the same point in time and space. 

The moment was captured on a number of new media vehicles. It felt like a press launch there were so many lenses, cameras and microphones among the drinks.  Shel Holtz and Neville Hobson were recording their podcast For Immediate release, as was Steve Crescenzo with his Happy Hour.  Meanwhile Kelly Kass was filming for Simply and Gerry Murray and David Camacho were behind the video camera for Ragan.com. You could not move without being interviewed.
Also lots of people I only knew through their blogs and emails turned up in person.  it was great to see Matt O'Neill, Simon Wright, Lee Smith, Ezri Carlebach and Andrew Riley of IABC at the event.  It just goes to prove what the 'social' means in Social Media.
