Like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, only with alcohol
Earlier this week I was lucky enough to go to the London Bloggers Meetup which was kindly hosted by Diageo (the drinks company). It was a great way to meet up with 50 fellow bloggers and find out what they blog about, how many people they have reading their blogs, how they drive traffic to their blogs and everything else that us bloggers can talk about for hours.
The setting couldn't be better. Diageo has a private bar at their London HQ just off Oxford Street which has just about every drink that the company produces - a fair few of which aren't even on the market yet (they asked me to let them know if I suffered any blindness after trying these drinks - only joking). Behind the bar they had very knowledgeable barmen who were only to happy to let us bloggers try anything we fancied. I was interested to try the different types of vodka they do - the difference between Smirnoff Red and ultra-premium Ketel was surprisingly noticeable.
I also had the chance to pour my own pint of Guinness, which took me back a few years to when I used to be on the other side of the bar.
I've got a soft spot for Diageo as a company. As well as hosting an event like this for us bloggers, they also seem to take internal communication seriously, doing interesting things in the area as well as regularly sending their people on our Simply training seminars. Plus they regularly read simply-communicate, so what's not to like?
So I'll leave you with a Kenyan beer I heartily recommend called Tusker.
