PR Academy releases 'Qualifications for Communications Professionals Trends Survey 2011'

21 January, 2011 - 10:47
Over 100 communicators took part in the new survey which will now be conducted annually.

According to Ann Pilkington, Director of PR Academy:

"We knew from talking to our former students that achieving a qualification very often makes a big difference to their careers, but we wanted to explore this a bit more. We were also keen to find out what practitioners are looking for in a qualification as of course that helps to ensure that we are meeting their needs."

What stood out in the survey results, Pilkington says, is the "overwhelming agreement" that a qualification had helped people move up the career ladder (or they felt it was likely to).

"We were also really pleased with the endorsement from Steve Falla at Orchard PR and Simon MacDowall from HMRC who I think both highlighted the value to a business or client that comes from having a qualified team.

"It shows that as well as being of value ot the practitioner, the business or client benefits, too. The qualifications we offer equip practitioners with the theory that informs practice. It's this understanding that actually helps us to deliver more effective campaigns - much more cost effectively," Pilkington explains.
